[Cob] cob as mortar for cordwood building

Jack Henstridge is one of the "grand-daddies"  of cordwood building and his 
recipe for mortar mix is as follows:  1 measure of portland cement, 2 
measures of sawdust, 3 measures of sand and gravel.  Perhaps it would work 
to replace the portland with hydrated lime, and use the sand and clay 
instead of the sand and gravel.  Just a thought.
