 do we have to build to code? it is a very rural area --
>most people use it for summer log homes or hunting in the autumn. if there

Hi Ollie

I would find out about building a "agriculture" building  or a studio,
retreat, and NOT call it a house or permanent shelter...even if ypu do wind
up living in it as you plan.

An ag or studio needs running water, some lighting, etc, so you might be
able to build without any attention whatsoever, or call it a campsite.

My understanding of codes would mean full graded floundation/ electrical
conduits, septic, etc.  which most cobbers aren't building in at least in a
conventional way.

(Where in Eastern PA...I'm from there, and would love to hear how your
project progresses.)
