[Cob] cobbing againDorothy Bothne dbothne54 at yahoo.comTue Aug 1 17:44:40 CDT 2017
that's exactly why we put the roof on posts first and cob up, burying the posts in the wall. we work weekends only and it took over ten years to get to where we are now. 2/3 of the house is done, we're living in this portion of house while we complete the last 1/3. our house is beautiful, quiet, comfortable and no mortgage. have trouble getting cell phone service and wifi through the walls though. had to put an extender on the router. The walls have been exposed all this time and a couple years have been very wet, one year was the wettest this area’s seen in 40 years. Needless to say, with the tops of the walls being exposed and not allowed to dry between rains, it wreaked havoc. I lost about 6 inches of height, and about an inch and a half off each side. So, I’ve began restoration work and can’t say enough how pleasing it is to work with such a wonderful building material.
