[Cob] Are roof overhangs absolutely necessary?Marlin Nissen marlin_nissen at yahoo.comWed Aug 4 15:03:19 CDT 2010
After following the discussion I have to pipe in and say YES I would advocate for overhangs,,,the building, Cob or NOT with no or very little overhang have required a great deal of paint/finish/rebuilding/new siding where the house RIGHT NEXT DOOR with a good porch/overhang have had little or NO damage to a similar facing wall Just my 2 cents. Damon: I have noticed the same thing. Many of the old buildings (actually, most I've seen) doesn't have but a couple inches of overhang. I would imagine you'd have to replaster quite a bit that way. But it's the English who say all a cob house needs is a good hat and good boots. I think a large overhang doesn't really mean it's gonna protect the top of the wall though. _______________________________________________ Coblist mailing list Coblist at deatech.com http://www.deatech.com/mailman/listinfo/coblist
