[Cob] too much clayDulane silkworm at spiderhollow.comTue Jul 21 14:30:16 CDT 2009
Until they are dry. Only a few days in high heat. You might want to but them in a warm place that doesn't get direct sun, like under a picnic table or other protected but sunny place. Add some sand to another test batch to see if it dries hard with minimal shrinkage and few cracks. Higher clay will typically get cracks while drying, and shrink more overall. Do you use the crunch test? A handful of good cob will crunch when squeezed. -----Original Message----- From: coblist-bounces at deatech.com [mailto:coblist-bounces at deatech.com] On Behalf Of Kristen Davenport Sent: Tuesday, July 21, 2009 8:41 AM To: coblist at deatech.com Subject: [Cob] too much clay Hello I suspect (but am not certain) that my soil pile has too high clay content and too low sand. My question is: If I make some test bricks , how long do I wait to see if they are cracking too much? How long until I know something from some test bricks? Thanks, Kristen _______________________________________________ Coblist mailing list Coblist at deatech.com http://www.deatech.com/mailman/listinfo/coblist
