[Cob] cordwood vs. cob dryingphil philhawnnc at excite.comTue Sep 25 12:01:27 CDT 2007
You need to add straw but it is easier to use straw that is only 8 or 10 inches long. Also, you won't use as much as you would in a cob wall. I am getting ready to paint the interior of the cordwood wall that I have finished with a mixture of kaolin clay, water and elmers glue so that it is white like the other walls. I especially liked the cob/lime putty recipe for resealing.Would you use chopped straw or ANY straw in the putty mix?I think I will keep the cordwood flush (not protruding) with the wall on the inside...in case I feel the need to plaster over it in the future. And my cottage is so small...I doubt if I will have much trouble heating it. In fact...heating will probably cause the wood to dry faster on the inside. Thanks again! _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!
