[Cob] PermittingDulane silkworm at spiderhollow.comWed Dec 20 12:20:14 CST 2006
We did another kind of alternative building...and we paid a structural engineer to do a report. We had an easy source of numbers for the engineer to get his info from...but his report did get us the permits...and he cost us around $2500. I guess you have to ask other people who have alternative buildings and see if you can find someone you feel good about working with. Good luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: <cob at fdwsnetworks.com> To: <coblist at deatech.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 19, 2006 5:55 AM Subject: [Cob] Permitting Hello, I had an interesting discussion with a person I've known for a few years but only just realized they were an Engineer. My county building inspectors said that it would not be a problem for me to build a structure such as straw-bale/cob as long as I had an Engineer's seal. However, my friend is telling me that it can cost upwards of $10,000. Does anyone have any experiance with this our any helpful information?
