A Kleiwerks core event NORTH AMERICA Natural Finishes Work Party - September & October, 2006 Depending on how many days you spend with us, you will learn various stages of the following: making & applying beautiful, totally eco-friendly, customized organic plasters & paints; curving 90-degree wall angles; sculpting built-in wall niches; making & applying casein washes; creating textured finishes. For more information click here. Conventional paints, sealants, finishes, waxes, polishes, solvents & adhesives all contain volatile organic compounds that threaten human health, create indoor air pollution & add toxins to rivers, streams & soils. We are building boxes of poison & it's our choice to do so, or not... Upcoming Events in Thailand In 2002, Kleiwerks taught it's first trainings in Thailand. At that time, we forged long-lasting connections with alumni and co-instructors who have since established Pun Pun - an organic farm, seed-saving project & sustainable living learning center. Since it's founding in 2004, Pun Pun continues pioneering sustainability in Thailand and throughout Southeast Asia. It is Kleiwerks' honor to support and affiliate with the fantastic efforts of the Pun Pun community. An affiliate event THAILAND Southeast Asian Sustainability Leadership Training (SLT) Training for Trainers May 1st -31st, 2007 Pun Pun Organic Farm, Seed Center & Sustainable Living Learning Center Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand This year will be the 2nd annual SLT hosted at Pun Pun. We invite leaders and representatives of community, farmers, and activist groups, along with other organizations in Southeast Asia to join us. We will focus on tools of sustainability and training techniques. Our intention is to enable community leaders to bring the knowledge back to their communities/groups. The goal is to stem local initiatives in turn creating a larger, more effective sustainabilitymovement. Last year's participants included representatives from "Flower Aceh," a women's organization from Aceh, Indonesia (an area most severly hit by Tsunami); "Youth for Peace" in Cambodia; and the "Karen Youth Organization" from the Thai/Burmese border. All SLT participants are now working with their respective groups on projects that stemmed from the SLT. Our 2007 training hopes to include new representatives from last year's groups, as well as new organizations. Pun Pun is presently seeking donations to cover the cost of the one-month training. The participants are from grassroots organizations in less developed countries. They do not have the ability to cover their own costs. Any amount given is greatly appreciated and will go a long way, especially because so many people are connected to each of our attendees' networks. Your contribution not only helps individuals, but goes toward supporting sustainable alternatives in SE Asia as a whole. For more information click here.
