[Cob] quicklime sourcesocean ocean at woodfiredeatery.comSun Sep 10 11:59:13 CDT 2006
I got quicklime (CaO) from Simplot, a local agricultural chemical supplier. CAUTION: Quicklime is highly reactive and EXPLOSIVE if not mixed properly. Melting a tub is your least concern. Bubbling splattering lime can give caustic burns and blind you if getting in you eyes. Charmaine Taylor has given advice on the past on how to use it. But if you don't know how, its best to stick with hydrated builders lime. (Interesting side note: Kettle Foods in Salem Oregon uses it for their organic corn chips!)
