[Cob] Portland area workshops

Hi all,
   Just wanted to let you  know of some upcomming cob events in the 
Portland, OR area.  If you have not been to the Village Building 
Convergence, it is worth a trip to Portland.  It is a great chance to 
participate in many different projects with different builders.

Rumford fireplace and cob patio wall work-party  -  April 22 - 23, 
10:00–5:00, Estacada, OR
      Come have fun and get experience mixing cob, building walls, 
sculpting, and building a clean burning fireplace of cob. Lunch will be 
provided. Attend one or both days.   Please email

Village Building Convergence  -  May 19-28, Portland, OR
      The VBC is a city wide event with almost thirty different sites where 
some sort of natural building will be used as a community building tool.  
I’ll be working with students at the Mount Tabor Middle School, 5800 S.E. 
Ash Street, Portland.  We will be building a covered cob bench for students. 
  Learn about cob and other materials by getting your hands and feet dirty 
during the days and attend inspirational presentations evenings.  More info

Plaster Workshop  -  June 3- 4, 10:00am – 5:00pm,  Estacada, OR
      Plaster is medium that truly reveals the beauty of hand formed cob 
walls and enlivens the flat walls of modern buildings. In this hands-on 
workshop learn about different mixes for base coat, finish coats, sculpture, 
mud and lime plasters.  Tools, materials, coloration, and techniques will be 
covered.  Join us in making new friends, laughing, and creating gorgeous 
surfaces.   Lunch will be served both days.  $150 fee for both days.
