[Cob] apprenticeshipCopper Harding copperharding at yahoo.comFri Mar 31 22:52:22 CST 2006
We have openings for one, maybe two, apprentices this spring and summer. Your end date will be around frost which is ususally the middle of September in northern MN. Start and end times are fully negotiable. You will spend (part-time) one to two months apprenticed to a local non-profit learning solar PV and solar thermal installations. You will also be building, working mainly with straw and earthen plaster. There will be two opportunities to work on living roofs this summer as well as some unique strawbale designs. You must be able to lift 25 pounds and work heavy physical labor 30 hours per week. We are interested in someone with mechanical ability and preference will be given to applicants with strong mechanical ability, experience with heavy equiment and building experience (traditional or natural). Women can meet these requirements and are encouraged to apply. You will be provided with housing within biking distance of the building site and a small living stipend. Meals are not provided except in certain "open to the public" events. Would prefer someone interested in working with the general public and with children as there are opportunties this summer for public and educational outreach within the local community. We are located in a small rural town in north-central MN. Please send resume, three references, and the answers to the below questions to copper at happydancingturtle.org 1. Why do you want to have this apprenticeship? What do you find most appealing or exciting about it? 2. What do you hope to get out of the apprenticship? 3. How do you see yourself integrating what you learn into your life? What do you plan to do with the information after this summer? We expect to begin interviewing by April 6th and hiring soon thereafter. _________________________ Ms. Copper Harding If you can walk, you can dance If you can talk, you can sing --- from Zimbabwe When you're out of balance gravity tends to get you down. -L.L.
