[Cob] cob building in the southfran fran2000a1 at yahoo.comSun Jan 15 09:43:35 CST 2006
For the past 2 yrs I have been gathering, saving, digging. My rubble trench is complete and I have accumulated almost everything I need to complete the foundation and small cob 24' cottage. Now I find that I must leave and move closer to my disabled grandson and daughter. This place has been a quiet refuge for my sometimes hectic days. My place has 3+ acres, fenced on 3 sides and gated. Very private cannot be seen from the main road. THere are no building codes in the county so you can build what you like here without interference. There is a large shop with electricity. Stick framed with insulation and wafer board outside walls. It's painted with a good roof and is on a separate meter from the house. There is an older 2 bedroom mobile home with 1 1/2 baths. I did a lot to it and made it a much more liveable and comfortable place. Hand dug raised bed garden that will grow anything, with added manure and other composted material to make it that way. Planted several pear, peach and plums, and there is a giant pecan tree. There is a chicken house and pen. I've built a dog pen and leanto shelter on the shop for lawnmower and other storage. There is an older camper completely useable. We use it for storage now. But it has been a guest bed with bath. It's connected to power and can be reconnected to the septic. I used it when remodeling the bath in the mobile home. Everything is here for building or very close by. A sawmill just down the road. Frame shop located nearby provides all the sawdust and scrap wood for my little projects. Neighbor has a nice woodworking shop that he makes available to me when I need to use something. About 1 acre is in hardwood, plenty for roof and ridgebeam with lots left. Some pine trees also. It's very close to the Tennessee line and not far from the northern ALabama line. My computer is offline in the shop, and I am borrowing this one for a day so I will not be available until after Monday online. If anyone is interested in a place like this I am selling for $18,000. Very cheap to live here and there are some jobs available if outside income is needed. A person can live here on very little. Good place to get started on very inexpensive. Nice neighbors, simple people. I am 10 miles from town, but there is community close. I will have some pictures up on the net next week. Email me off the list and we can send more information. I love it here, but I have already located another place close to my grandson. Fran __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
