I have seen pictures on the web...

You might search for ideas there...

But COB does not like to be bent.. So look to the ARCH
for support..

Also... not all Cob is the same,,  so I would suggest testing...
If you need the shelf to carry 50 LBS ,, the keep making
test selves until you get one to hold 100 LBS..

But that is where the NICHE comes into its own...
Make the wall thicker where you want the shelf.
And hollow out an arched pocket for the shelf...

Then you could put a small colored glass window in the
Niche for a cusomized look...
Or a small peek window to see who is outside..

So many ideas ,, so little money/ time/ ambition,,, bill
