Around here (North Western, Oregon area), masonery grade perlite is
available from a company that sells (and in some cases manufactures) a
wide range of cement, brick and related products as well as wood stoves,
it's quite cheap $10.51 for a 4 cubic foot bag, I bought a bag Monday to
finish off a large furnace based on an experimental variation of the
rocket design (should be firing it this afternoon). Have you asked your
local brick/lime supplier if they can order it for you? I would keep
checking masonery type suppliers, since that is who would generally carry
it. You could also check with anyone that does brickwork, fireplaces,
etc. as at the very least they should know where to get it.
