[Cob] Fw: plasterAmanda Peck ap615 at hotmail.comMon Feb 9 10:53:51 CST 2004
More information, please. What have you tried? Plain old well-soaked lime? gypsum (for interior)--i.e. plaster of paris? (would a cast be smooth enough?) (will it work well enough to work with the breatheable cob? I DON'T KNOW, so don't use it on my word!) how are you putting it on?--three coats? first--very thin--to bind to the cob, second to build up (scratch to provide surface for the third), third to finish? Have you checked the book? (my copy, I think, came from dirtcheapbuilders.com Service is usually better from her than from Amazon--although I think that other books have at least some of the information): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0865714495/103-6977152-4198211?v=glance .............................. Jilly wrote (corrected): Can you please post links for plasters suitable for cob? I am trying different mixes, nothing is working the way I would like. I am looking for a smoother finish. So far, these are still "scratchy".
