[Cob] rebar, cob, rust, further corrosionLee Shultz lee.shultz at westrimcrafts.comMon Jan 19 13:59:16 CST 2004
Hi. I just found the following on http://www.buildingforhealth.com/ Steel rebar is often used to reinforce foundations or pin straw bale walls together. Unfortunately, production of steel rebar has a high environmental impact and its use can create an unhealthy energy field in your home. Fiberglass-reinforced- plastic (FPR) rebar is non-magnetic, non- electricity conducting and will not create a distorted magnetic field. It will not rust or corrode. It is stronger than steel, and is only about 1/4 the weight of steel. It is easy to cut, however, it cannot be bent - bends can be ordered. Order Info: Call for current pricing and delivery. It swell, could it break something like concrete or cob? c) couldn't find a link to it, but a major bridge in Nashville (Silliman Evans) was condemmed and rebuilt precisely because tiny cracks had let salt--to melt snow and ice--to seep into the reinforced concrete, rusting the reinforcing bar, which made matters worse, if I'm right on b). My recollection is that a big chunk or two fell into the river before they caught it. d) which would lead me to think that deliberately PUTTING rusty metal in almost anything is a bad idea. _________________________________________________________________ Learn how to choose, serve, and enjoy wine at Wine @ MSN. http://wine.msn.com/ _______________________________________________ Coblist mailing list Coblist at deatech.com http://www.deatech.com/mailman/listinfo/coblist
