It seems everyone has their own unique fresh water/waste water situation, requiring quite a bit of research and imagination that no one or two publications can entirely address. I've been researching and gathering ideas on this for months, but a system that fits my particular site/soil/preferences/budget/codes, etc. is only beginning to coalesce. The best resource I found was the ARCHIVES OF THIS COBLIST! I emphasize that to everyone because there is a wealth of knowledge there just waiting to be accessed. A couple years ago there were some threads on this topic. Here's just one excellent site: http://www.nwnet.co.uk/earthwise/ I recently ordered two highly-rated books from Amazon.com The Humanure Handbook $15.20 Cottage Water Systems $19.96 Just an idea: I wonder if a sand filtration setup would filter greywater? Might be high-maintenance. -----Original Message----- From: Paul Valerio <valeri at io.com> To: coblist <coblist at deatech.com> Date: Tuesday, June 29, 1999 5:19 PM Subject: Cob: H2O filter >My idea >is to make a closed-system bath house for bathing and laundry purposes. >The water from the washing machine and shower would be filtered and >perpetually reused, thereby eliminating the need for a continuous source >of water to replace what has been used, as well as a disposal system. > >The problem is how to effectively filter the water.
