Cob: "All Cobbers' Day?!"Miranda-Johnston 104533.3677 at compuserve.comThu Jun 10 11:52:39 CDT 1999
My name is Steven Johnston and I am currently living in Boulder, CO. I have been investigating the possibility of locating other individuals in the Rocky Mtn region with experience working with cob. Since last April, Ianto Evans (Cob Cottage Company) and I have been tossing around the idea of arranging an "All Cobbers' Day" for the region that would bring all interested folks together for a couple of days. Ianto has told me that such a concept has been nothing short of wildly successful in California. Close to 100 individuals are pretty actively involved. Both Ianto and I feel that this region could be ready for such a concept. So, why not do the same in this area (Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona...)? Initially it may be best for me to offer myself as an point of contact for anyone (and all) who would like to participate and then, from there, we can begin the process of determining the when, where and how of it all. Basically, the California process , from what I understand, was simple in premise, inexpensive and largely without goals and objectives (other than getting together and talking mud and straw). Let me know what you think. I've also been planning a cob structure here in Boulder that may come to fruition this summer. Such an endeavor could include some workshops on foundations, cob construction, plasters, and timber framing (living roof). I'll keep you posted. Thanks for "listening!" Ciao! stevej boulder, co
