Hello Will. :-)!! << I agree a test wall would be a good idea prior to building our main structure. Those fiber cement failure pictures are an eye opener. >> GRIN, I am pleased to be of service. You see I have tried to use Notching and such as mechanical bonding (nails too BTW) with even more interesting failures with Cob like materials. Cord Wood is generally GREEN and will dry and change size while the cob will not after the inital drying. Your mechanical interfaces will simply slow the process a bit. BTW I suspect that your Cob and Lime Plaster waterproofing may have it's own mechanical interface issues give the differences in how cement like (Lime mostly eh?) material and Cob expand and contract with changes in temperature. Please remember to post your results as so others can advoid any errors you note. I figure that is why DuckFood posted some of those pictures as many folks want to talk about success but few admidt to failures. Thus you and I reevent the wheel so many times. Why not use Strawbale? Opps I am on the Cob List.... (Scuff, Scuff....) I wonder why I cannot use cob as INTERIOR WALLS in my Strawbale home given the Artistic Ability of Cob? I am already exploring the use of Rammed Earth Flooring. <G> Michael
