Aloha, > -----Original Message----- > From: Don Stephens [SMTP:dsteph at tincan.tincan.org] >...Still it might just be a good "brown-coat" for low-R stuff like cob in >colder climates - put up the cob with short sticks projecting to tie into >the F/C stucco, slap on several layers of F/C to build up 8" - 10" of it >and then finish stucco, for a wall with a high mass, an R-value of ~ 20, >and 0 infiltration! I wonder.... I'd want to be sure it breathes enough to keep the cob happy - cob needs to breathe or it will be slowly destroyed by trapped moisture, which is why cement-based plasters don't work with cob. FC might have the same problem (depending on breathability - haven't heard anything about that yet), especially a thick coat, and for sure if cement stucco was used as a finish coat. John Schinnerer
