cob oven workshop in TX

We have a cob workshop scheduled for mid-June.  See below.

"A 2-day workshop on Building with Earth will be held in the Texas Hill
Country at Alma de Mujer Conference and Retreat Center on Friday June 13 and
Saturday June 14.  Gayle Borst, architect, and skilled, experienced cobber.,
will lead the workshop, assisted by Yvonne Hansen, also an experienced cobber.
 The fee is only $50 per person for both days.  We'll begin at 8:30 on Friday
and work until dusk,  continuing on Saturday.  

The plan is to build two earth ovens and a couple of benches on top of local
stone foundations using local soil for the cob.  Sand and straw will be
brought in.  You will learn about materials selection and evaluation, mixing
and cobbing techniques, and designing.  Bring a hat, suntan lotion, towel,
slip-ons (like zoris), perhaps a change of clothes, writing material such as a
sketch book or notebook, a camera, etc.  Also bring your own bag lunches and
beverages.  We will provide a booklet for each participant and hearty snacks
and water.  Materials, tools and supplies will be on site.

The workshop will be a mix of hands-on (and feet in!), lecturettes,
illustrations, photos, etc.  A number of experienced cobbers will be on hand
and much learning from one another will happen.  Plan to use muscles you
haven't flexed in a while - so have on hand Epsom Salts and/or Dr. Singh's
Mustard Bath to soak yourself in afterwards.

Alma de Mujer has camping facilities with  showers at a very low cost, and
simple two-bed rooms with bath for $35.  Plan to arrive Thursday if you are
traveling from out of town.
